Project Description

Good Deeds is a purpose-driven platform that rewards kindness by encouraging individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and corporations to give back. I led the full design process for the website — from UX strategy and wireframing to visual design, iconography, and interface design — crafting an experience that meets the unique needs of four distinct user groups.

The Challenge

Design an intuitive, multi-functional platform that connects users with volunteer opportunities, donation options, and a non-monetary marketplace — while also serving nonprofit organizations, corporate CSR programs, and small businesses.

The site needed to:

  • Engage users and encourage them to give back

  • Allow nonprofits to manage and track volunteers

  • Provide businesses a way to contribute to community causes

  • Enable corporate partners to measure and report employee impact

My Role

As the sole designer on this project, I was responsible for:

Information architecture & site mapping

Wireframing and low/high-fidelity mockups

Iconography and UI design system

Designing all user flows and CTAs for 4 audience types

Building a custom admin portal UX for nonprofits

Designing responsive layouts for mobile & desktop

Collaborating closely with developers to implement the full experience

UX Strategy

I started by identifying the four key user personas:

  1. General Users / Volunteers — Individuals (including students) who sign up to donate, volunteer, and earn Deed Dollars to spend in the marketplace.

  2. Nonprofits & Charities — Organizations that list opportunities, receive donations, and manage volunteers.

  3. Businesses — Companies that list products or services in the marketplace to give back.

  4. Corporate Partners — Organizations that track employee volunteer hours and donations, creating a measurable social impact record.

Each user type had specific flows, goals, and dashboards — and the UX needed to guide each seamlessly through sign-up, participation, and engagement.

Built marketplace and corporate dashboard UI — allowing businesses to give back through product listings and helping corporations track employee impact and community contributions.

Visual Design

The look and feel of the platform is bright, welcoming, and community-first — with an emphasis on clarity and inclusivity. I used custom iconography and a consistent visual language across all modules to create a unified, easy-to-use experience for all age groups and tech literacy levels.

The Good Deeds platform successfully launched and is actively helping individuals and organizations across Canada give back to their communities in meaningful ways.

  • A growing user base of volunteers and students earning Deed Dollars

  • Multiple nonprofits using the admin system to manage their volunteers

  • Businesses and corporate partners engaged in giving back via the marketplace

Results

This project was a unique opportunity to design an ecosystem that empowers generosity and rewards kindness. Balancing the needs of four distinct user groups while maintaining a cohesive experience challenged me to think holistically and design with empathy at every stage.
